As some of you already know, my mum and I work together on Nancy’s Tea Shop. My mum came on board when I realised that I didn’t have enough time to pack and ship my items. With her amazing packing skills, we have now shipped hundreds of items all over the world to many happy customers. Given how much the boxes are thrown about during their long journeys, it’s down to my mum’s expert packing skills that we have hardly had any breakages! She also contributes to many other aspects of the business (along with my dad) and her constant enthusiasm and energy for the business is a source of inspiration to me.
I often share my vintage finds and favourite pieces on my blog but seeing as it’s Mother’s Day I thought I’d ask my mum to share some of her favourites.
These Allertons vintage china tea sets are high on her favourites list. She likes that they’re around 80 years old but are still in wonderful condition. The intricate blue pattern is so well-defined despite its delicate nature. All seven of these tea sets went to one of our regular customers who shares my mum’s love for them. We’re glad to know that they’ve gone to a good home!
We also made a few mini cake stands from the leftover saucers and side plates, which were snapped up pretty quickly too.
These Royal Vale tea sets are also up there on my mum’s favourites list. She loves the elegant simplicity of the cups. They are really versatile pieces as they look just as good with other pastel colours as they do with more detailed patterned tea sets.
My mum’s final choice for this post is this beautiful cake stand made from vintage Paragon china. The china is bolder than the previous pieces but it is similar in terms of its high quality and the vibrant cobalt blue pattern and gold edging are remarkably vivid given its age! My mum also loves the stout shape of the cup with the proud peacocks perfectly entwined with the flowers and leaves.
Thanks Mum for sharing these pieces. It’s been fun being reminded of the lovely items that we’ve sold over the past year or so.
